I like helping adults realize their dream to play the guitar. I also enjoy introducing more experienced players to advanced acoustic guitar techniques

Formal music training/qualifications:

Recent advanced instruction from one of Australia’s foremost acoustic guitar teachers.  I am also an experienced school teacher with undergraduate and graduate education degrees (non-music).

Performing Experience:

Over 30 years performing in a variety of semi-professional bands covering rock, pop, blues etc. I’ve also worked as a solo performer, in musical society orchestras, Bush Bands, Church music teams etc. I’m currently working in a light jazz duo for restaurant functions and corporate events.  

Musical styles, bands, performers preferred:

Although I appreciate almost all styles of music, I especially like fingerstyle, acoustic guitar- based performers in the roots/blues/Americana field. My favourites include old Blues Masters like Robert Johnson, Skip James, Mississippi John Hurt etc. and contemporary artists like Ry Cooder, Chris Smither, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, Bela Fleck, Harry Manx, Bonnie Raitt, Tommy Emmanuel.

I’ve always really enjoyed attending the end-of-semester concerts, seeing the wonderful sense of accomplishment and pride that on-stage performing gives to our students, and to their families and friends!
